Exploring LGBTQ+ People's Determinations of 'Problematic' use

You’re invited to participate in a new research project! The Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health, and Society (ARCSHS) at La Trobe University is running a study with Thorne Harbour Health, looking at how LGBTQ+ people understand the impact of their alcohol and/or other drug use. If you:

  • Work or have worked in a role where you provided support to people experiencing difficulties with their AOD
  • Have previously worked with LGBTQ+ clients
  • Were or are engaged in this work within Victoria

We want to talk to you! You’ll be interviewed about your experiences of working with LGBTQ+ people experiencing impactful alcohol and/or other drug use. This will take 35-50 minutes of your time. Register your interest LGBTQ+ people experience more problems with alcohol and/or other drug use, but often don’t use available support services. This project aims to explore the how LGBTQ+ individuals recognise their problems with substance use. We’ll use these findings to support other LGBTQ+ individuals in recognising when alcohol and/or other drug use has impacted their lives. For more information, you can visit the project website. We hope you’ll consider participating, and if you have any questions or concerns about this project, don’t hesitate to contact G.Lim@latrobe.edu.au.
